Working back from take-home pay

Salaries in Ghana are often agreed as a take-home (net) figure. To put that on a payslip, the employer needs the basic salary that leaves exactly that amount after SSNIT and PAYE. Because PAYE is charged in bands, there is no simple formula: this calculator searches for the basic salary, to the pesewa, using the current PAYE bands and the 5.5% employee SSNIT rate.

If the package includes allowances or a tier 3 contribution, use the PAYE calculator to check the final payslip.

These calculators are a guide, not tax advice. Check figures with the Ghana Revenue Authority or an accountant before you rely on them.
